On Saturday, February 23, 2019, Brotherhood is sponsoring a bluegrass community wide concert featuring Nefesh Mountain. The critically acclaimed acoustic / bluegrass band Nefesh Mountain blends American Appalachian traditions with the beautiful heritage of Jewish culture. Together with their unique background, Nefesh Mountain has become the pioneer of a transcendent new genre, touring internationally with their music and fusing these seemingly disparate worlds with songs and spirituals in English and Hebrew alike. From Austin to Waco, from Nashville to Memphis, to NC and GA, NY, CA, Canada, Israel, Australia and more, Nefesh plays to a wide variety of audiences and the result is always the same – STANDING OVATIONS! Sue and I stumbled into a Nefesh Mountain Concert when we were at a Bar Mitzvah in Washington, DC in 2017. It was a triple Bar Mitzvah, so we didn’t think much about the crowd. But we were wrong. It was the synagogue’s Concert Night. I was taken By Barry Dvorchik - Brotherhood President aback by the 300+ crowd, so I asked some locals whether this was the usual response to their Concert Night. They said no, usually they got 40- 60 people to attend. So I said, why the huge numbers? They simply said…It’s Nefesh Mountain! In a sanctuary that held 300 people, there were more than 350. The ruach was amazing. So, grab your jeans and be there, Saturday night, February 23rd, at 8:00 p.m. The concert is being advertised in the Jewish Press of Tampa, The Hillel Academy newsletter, the Shabbat Shalom newsletter and in synagogues around the area.
